, 1793 West , described there as ' a staring shatteredrock ' , v. castel , cragge ; an ancient fort lies above the crag ( grid 83 – 469127 ) , described in RCHM 31 – 2 , cf. also Castelgate 1295Lowth , which may be the road leading to it ( v. gata ) along the shore of Hawes Water .
