Etymology

'(At) the stone of Beorhtsige (Brihtsige ).' v. Brixton infra 23.It has been noted that one Bricsi held manors in Surrey TRE, viz. at Compton, Horsley and Hatcham, of which the last named is not far distant. The hundred-name is, however, probably much older than this.
