, cf. Gibbon Dale 1793Td 'E , Gibbon Dale Blades 1630Td 'E , named from a family well - evidenced in the parish , cf. Anthony Gybbon 1592Inv , Francis Gibbon 1660Td 'E , and probably dalr ' avalley ' . Blades appears to be from OE  blæd ' a blade (of grass) ' , presumably in some transferred topographical sense .
