Mr IforBarton draws my attention to Lincolnshire Life 7 , 7 , p. 53 , “ In the middle of a field below the woods , is a tall column erected in 1770 , with a Latin inscription expressing the gratitude of Edward andAnn Watson “ in the 29th year of happy conjugal union ” . ” SOMERBY DOLTER , 1824 O , cf. Dolter Bottom , Dolter Top 1847TA , Delta Fox Cover 1828 Bry , Delta Cover 1830 Gre ; the Covert is situated in the triangular extreme north - east corner of the parish , being shaped like the Greek letter delta ; Dolter itself is obscure , and if this is the original name , the Delta of Bry and Gre may be an attempt by the map - makers to interpret a name the meaning of which was not understood .
