, cf. Galtry Close 1661Terrier , Galtre Close 1693ib , Galtree Close 1708ib , the Galtry Close 1722ib , Galtree Close hedge 1638ib , Galtree Close hedge 1708ib ( v. hecg ) ; poss . the site of an early gallows ( v. galg-trēow ) , but uncertain because of the proximity of Gartree Road and Gartree House infra , which suggests a poss . 17th - cent. alteration by attraction of Gartree > Galtree or even by script confusion of a long r with l. However , it is close to Manor Fm on Manor Rd infra , which may be the site of the medieval hall ( note atte Hall l.13Wyg , v. atte , hall ) and thus may record the former site of the manorial gallows .
