Camp Barn
Other OS name in the Parish of Kimcote and Walton
Etymology
: a group of disused military camps relating to Bruntingthorpe Airfield appears located north - east of Walton on the O.S . 6 ″ map ( 1967 ) , but the barn ( a farm site ) is one mile distant from the nearest of these , to the south - east of the village , with no evidence of military camps at or near . One hesitates to propose the survival here of camp ' open land ' beside this ' farmstead or village of theBritons ' since no early spellings are present in the many records for the parish . But note the late evidence for OE camp in Belgrave (Lei 349) and Lat campus may have survived among the Romano - British inhabitants of Walton .
