( . 2 ½ ″ ) , the Hill House 1835 O, Sludge hall 1925Kelly ; the first word may indeed be ModE  sludge ' mud, mire, ooze ' , and if so , this is an ironical toponym for a poor site ; perh . cf. Frog Hall which occurs frequently . But the name may rather relate to the unexplained Sledge Spinney in Little Dalby , v. Lei 285 .
