( 6 ″ ) . Cf. bosci dict ' Spryngvenella voc . Sprynges lane 1299WalthamC , the messuage of John SpriggSprigges Lane 1301 Fisher . Sprigg is probably an error for Spring , and John , no doubt , took his name from a spring of wood , remains of which still survive to the east . This was on the forest - boundary .
