( 6 ″ ) is B (o )uhern (e )1285Ass , 1290 Ch, 1327,1381SR (p) . The modern form would seem to be corrupt . The name may be a compound of OE  boga , ' bend, bow , ' and hyrne , from the situation near a bend in the Blackwater , but no certainty is possible .
