Etymology

, occurs twice 6 ″ , once as the name of a long strip of low - lying heathland 1 ½ miles N of Wareham and W of the Wareham - Morden road ( Nundice 1846TA (Morden) ) , and once as a name for the quarter of the town of Wareham near the W wall ( though in TGuide it is given to BrixeysLane supra which is in this quarter ) ; the name is obscure , unless it is intended to represent the Lat  phrase non dico ( 1st pers. sg . pres . indic . of dicere ) ' I do not say ' , or non dic ( 2nd pers. sg . imperative ) ' do notsay ' , perhaps used as a frivolous or waggish name either for an otherwise nameless place , or for a place with improper associations , cf. Groop Lane , an earlier name for Moreton's Lane supra which crosses Brixeys Lane .
