Park Fd 1844TA and Park Mead Bottom infra ; as Hutch 3 4 28 puts it , ' the fine valley west of town , opposite the front of the abbey , is now called the Park , from the purpos to which it was formerly appropriated ' , cf. also ' Here was anciently a park belonging tothe abbot ' in Hutch 1 2 292 .
