According to Hutchinson ( i , 260 ) “ near the site of a small religious house , ” but according to Lysons ( 124 ) “ The Skirwith Abbey estate was so called from a tradition , for which we can find no foundation , that it was the site of a religious house . ” Skirwith Fell is Skirwith -Fells 1671 Fleming .
