is Burnhope seat , otherwise Scraith head 1777 NB . Cf. Burnhop-heuyde 1479 Hexham . This is the hill at the head of Burnhope Burn (Du) which flows into the Wear above St John 's Chapel . For the second element v. hop . Scraith Head ( v. skreið and cf. infra 411 ) is on the eastern slope of Burnhope Seat , in Durham .
