, 1842 OS , Hollow Wood 1831 Bry, the hall of the Woodlands 1556 (17) Orm2, the hall of the Woodd ,the hall of the Wodde 1557 ib, the hall of the Wood 1666 ib , ' the hall in the wood ' , v. hall , wudu , cf. Orm2 i471 where the house is reported from 1483 . It may be the house alluded to in Latin as aula sambucca 1500AddCh 37239 ' elder-tree hall ' . The modern form is a misinterpretation of Hall o ' Wood .
