( 110–648648to 658654 ) , Welch Lane 1842 OS , cf. Welch Pasture 1845TA , v. Welisc ' a Welshman ' , lane . This lane led from Smithy Bank supra ( 110–648647 ) to a now - submerged ford of R . Weaver at 110 – 658655 thence to 110 – 660656 near Rilshaw 2214 in Wharton , cf. prec. It probably marks a route used by Welsh salters trading with Middlewich , cf. 147 – 8 ( route XXIII ) .
