Historical Forms

  • the Byatts 1848 TA

Etymology

, the Byatts 1848TA . The name Biat would appear to be ME  biʒeate ' profit, acquisition ' ( NED ) , cf. OE  begietan ' to beget,to acquire ' , and The Byatts could well refer to land which was very profitable or a notable acquisition to an estate . But the historical background is not known , and the surname Byatt ( Reaney ) might enter into this p.n .
