Etymology

'Bera's farm,' v. ingtun . No OE  pers. name Bera is on record but we have a rare OE  name Beruulf and Bera may be a pet- form for this or some other such name. The corresponding name is fairly common in OGer (Förstemann PN 249 ff.), cf. Berrington (He).
