Etymology

This is the name given to the bridge over the Hymelbroc .Later the name of the stream was altered to fit the bridge and it is now called Bow Brook. Stonebow for an arch of stone is similarly used in the name of one of the gates of Lincoln.Cf. also Stanbowe in Halesowen Ct Rolls (1282). v. Bow Brook supra 10.
