Etymology

Professor Zachrisson suggests that this difficult name may be for OE  scīene-hrycg, 'fair' or 'bright ridge.' For early loss of n before r we may compare OE  mīre , āre for mīnre , ānre (Sievers, A. S. Gramm , § 188, n. 4).
