Etymology

'Hūd (a )'s farm,' v. ingtun . It may be something more than a coincidence that Hodes ac is found on the boundary of Huddington (BCS 1282). Cf. Hudnall (PN Bk 94). In the bounds of Himbleton (BCS 542) we have an uffanleage . This survives as Uffeley Coppice in the Parliamentary Survey (1650) of Huddington. For the pers. name involved, v. Offenham infra 266.
