Etymology

Saxton (1577) and Speed (1610) have Tychnell and Tichnell . The ch s probably an error for ck . 'Kid-hill,' v. ticcen , hyll , and cf. Ticknall (Db), Ticcenheal (l )e , KCD 710, 1298.
