Giddeahall is Giddy Hall 1773 A and D. Probably a nickname of contempt. Cf. Gidea Park (PN Ess 117–8) where other examples are cited, la Gidielond (1276 StNicholas) in Broad Chalke and Gediacre (1224 FF) in Lavington.
