Etymology

Lutsey Fm (6″) is Luteseye 1279, 1281Ass . There is an OE  personal name Lutting of which we have the simplex in Luttes crundel (BCS 327), a Somerset charter, Luttesweye (13th RegMalm) in Chippenham and Lutteswell (1227 SarumCh) in Pitton, now Litchwells Fd infra 509, and the name is probably from Luttes -īeg , 'Lutt 's marshy land,' though the forms are too late for any certainty.
