Etymology

'Ford where the (Roman) road crosses,' v. stræt . Ralph de Touny held the manor in 1242 (Fees). Cf. Newton Tony infra 370. The street is the ancient Port Way, the same road which gave name to Stratford-sub-Castle infra 371–2.
