Etymology

Chaldicott's Fm (6″) is Chaldecotis 1448FF , Caldecots 1541 Hoare, Chalder Cutts 1773 A and D, and is to be associated with the family of William de Cheldecot ' (1225SR ), John de Caldecote (1292AddCh ), Walter de Chaldecote (1305Ass ). This may be a genuine place-name 'cold cote,' or it may be manorial in origin, taking its name from a family which came from Chalcot supra 147.
