Clatford is Clatford 1086 DB, 1204 ClR, 1229 StOsmund, 1242 Fees et passim , Clacford Monachorum 1166 P, Clafort t. Hy 2 (1328) Ch, Clateford 1289Ass , Clatford Prioris , Clatford Parke 1622 ParReg. 'Ford where the water-lily (OE clāte ) grows.'Cf. Claverton (So), Clatfordtun c. 1000 (12th) ASWills. There was an alien priory here, a cell of the abbey of St Victor en Caux, France (Jones 207).
