Etymology

Sharcott is Shervecot '1249 FF, Sherfcot (e )1279, 1281Ass , 1339For , Shurfcot (e )1289Ass , t. Ed 2For , Schorfcot (e )1327SR , Shercott 1602FF , 1799Sadler . It would seem that the first element here is OE  sceorf noted in PN Sx s. n. Hodshrove, but the sense 'steep slope' does not suit the site. The slope is a very gentle one. Equally difficult of application would be Wallenberg's suggestion (KPN 123) that it may mean 'cutting, incision, score.'
