Etymology

'burhof a woman named Hēahþrȳþ .' This etymology was first suggested by Stevenson (Dukery Records 397) who pointed out that Heahðryð occurs again in Hegtredebrug (1232), the name of a bridge on the boundary of Sherwood Forest. The name is not on independent record.
