Bowl's Barrow is so named in 1773 (A and D) and is the bodelusburgʒe of 968 (15th) BCS 1215, Bothelesbergh 1348Cor , Boulsborough 1675 Ogilby. 'Bodel 's barrow,' v. beorg . The personal name Boda is on record. This would be a diminutive form of it. Cf. OGer  Bodilo , Bodila (Förstemann, PN 322).
