Etymology

'Fitela 's farm,' v. tun , ingtun . The same personal name is found in on fitelan slædes crundæl 934 BCS 705 in the bounds of Enford near by (v. supra 328). Probably the same man gave name to the tun and the slæd . It is probably only a coincidence that the manor was held TRE by one Vitel . See the discussion of Lat  Vitalis , OFr  Vitel (Feilitzen 405–6).
