Baynton is Beinton 1203 Cur (p), Bainton 1204 ib., Beynton 1208 Abbr, c. 1250Edington et freq to 1428 FA, Beyntonesfeld 1348Cor . Possibly 'Bǣga 's farm,' v. tun . Bǣda is also possible. For loss of d cf. Bainton (PN O 45).
