Etymology

'Cēol 's farmstead,' v. worð . It is not always easy to separate the forms for this name from those for the not far distant Chelworth in Crudwell infra 57. The form Chedeleswurthe in Bracton is curious. Side by side with it Chelewurthe is found in the same document.
