Etymology

Sewell Barn (6″). Cf. Sywelegh 1382NewColl , Sewell , Sewells Coppice 1712DuLa . A spring is marked here and there are a good many others in the neighbourhood, so this may be another example of 'seven springs' with the element legh from leah added in the first form. Cf. PN Nth 40, PN Sr xliv, PN Wa xlvi.
