Dogkennel Fm. Cf. house called the Dogge Kennell 1650ParlSurv , Dog Kennel 1773 A and D. This farm- or house-name has been found in other English counties, but it is seldom that forms earlier than the 18th or 19th century are available. It was probably originally a nickname given to some very small or insignificant dwelling or hovel.
