Etymology

'Farm of Cort or Corta ' v. ingtun . For the personal name cf. Corteshamme BCS 917 (a Wiltshire charter) and Courteenhall (PN Nth 145). East Corton was probably the present Manor Fm in contrast to West Corton, now West Fm in the village itself.
