Etymology

Near by must have been Brydinga dic 955 (13th) BCS 917, Bridinghedic 970 (15th) ib. 956. For this name cf. Burcombe infra 213. There is a pool here and the name probably denotes the 'pool of one Bryda .' The dic took name from him and his family.
