Etymology

'Ealda 's farm,' v. ingtun . Cf. Aldbourne supra 291–2. Cf. Allington in Stoneham (Ha), Aldinton 1186, 1188 P, Aldington 13th AD i. In the Assize Roll form of 1426 we have an attempt to assert the correctness of the form Aldyngton as against Aldynton .
