Etymology

Mislet, Micheleselet (sic)1256 Ass, Micheleset 1256 Kend i, 317, Mystlehedd 1545 NCWills, Mis (s )led 1694 Will, 1706Ct , Misslett 1702 Will, cf. also Mikeleswyk 1256 Ass. The forms are somewhat discrepant, but the name could be from the ME  pers.n. Michel , which remains as a local surn. Mytchell , Mitchell 1560 Kend ii, 78, 81 (as in Mitchelland i, 180supra ), and sǽtr 'shieling'.
