Sad Gill, Sattegyll 1297 Pat, Sategille 1323 Ipm, Sadgill 1345 ib, Satgill 1383Pedw 78. 'Ravine with a shieling', v. sǽtr , gil ; it is of the same origin as Sadgill (i, 161supra ). It is difficult to keep apart the spellings of the two names.
