Etymology

'Mouse-infested wood', mūs, grāf . Other wood-names like Moseley (Wo 356), Mowshurst (K 74), possibly Mowstawehals in Orton (ii, 50supra ), etc. provide parallels. For the affixes v. grēat (Lat  magna ), lȳtel (Lat  parva ), and hyll .
