Towcett, Towsid (e )1579 Kend i, 304, 1580 ib 158–9et freq to 1750 PR(Bm), Towcit 1639 PR(Mrl), Towcet 1659 ib, 1823 M, Toosod 1708 PR(Mrl), Twossed 1708 ib. v. sīde 'hillside' or possibly sǽtr 'shieling'; the first el. could be the ON  pers.n. Tófi , as in Outrun (i, 173supra ).
