Etymology

Ullathorns, Hulhaicthorns 1290–1300 Kend ii, 401, Ullaythorne 1357 ib 405(p), Ullethornes 1378 Pat (p), Ulthorns 1401 Cl (p), Ullathorn (e )s 1518 Kend i, 57, 1609Comm et freq to 1865 OS.'Thorns where wolves play', v. ulfr , leik , þorn , the first theme being of the same origin as Ullock (Cu 315, 367, 373). Lindkvist 128 derived the latter from an ON  Ulla-eik 'the holy oak of the Norse god Ulli', but additional material (Uluelaik , etc.) shows that this cannot be right for Ullock, and, though the spellings are ambiguous, it is improbable for Ullathorns.
