Stangana, Stangana Moss, Stangana Moss 1837 Kend iii, 301, cf. also Mansergh Stang 1656Bridges 13d, 1750 Kend iii, 267. This, like Rigmaden (supra ), would appear to be an inversion compound of ON  stǫng 'post, pole' and some pers.n. which cannot be determined, unless it is the fem. pers.n. Anna .
