Etymology

Haber, Heyberkelde c. 1270 MdMb 357, c. 1300Lowth , Hayberk 14Musg , Heybour 1803 PR, Haber 1809 ib, cf. also Lankaber (infra ) and Surehayberg 14Musg . 'Hill where hay was grown', v. hēg , beorg , a frequent We p.n., cf. Habers (ii, 149supra ). The last spelling is from sūr 'sour' to distinguish it from Lankaber (infra ).
