Moor Divock, Moredvuock 1278Lowth , Moor-dovack 1793 West, -Divock 1865 OS, Dovack Moor 1823 M, the name of the moor on Askham Fell, with several tumuli. The name is an inversion compound of OE , ON  mōr 'moor' and a Celtic pers.n. corresponding to Welsh  Dyfog (Brit  *Dubaco -, OWelsh  *Dibauc ), as in Devoke Water (Cu 33).
