Etymology
'Ōsmund's outlying farm', v. þorp . The pers.n. is OE Ōsmund or an anglicised form of ON Ásmundr ; it remained in local use in the surname of Thomas Osmund who gave a messuage here in 1376 YD vii (p. 144).
