Etymology

'Farmstead associated with Ēdla ', v. -ing 4 , tūn . The pers.n. is found also in Edlington L, and is probably an OE  Ēdla (corresponding to OHG  Audila ), a derivative of Ēada or a short form of some such name as Ēadhelm , Ēadwulf , etc.
