Etymology

'Homestead of Cola's folk', from the OE  pers.n. Cola , v. -ingas , hām . Bede's Ingetlingum , the scene of Oswiu's death and the site of Eanflæd's monastery has been located at Collingham (VCH i, 72); but even if this is so there is no connexion between the names (cf. Gilling YN 288).
