Hungerley Hall Fm and Ungley Ho. Cf. Hungerley meadowe , Hongerley corner 1581 LeetBk, Hungerley 1725 B. The forms are too late for any certainty. Possibly this is one of the common 'hunger' names, used to indicate dissatisfaction with the soil or situation.

Hungerley and Ungley are probably the same name,the latter showing a local pronunciation, v. leah.
