Stratford (lost) is Stratford 1253 Ch, Stretford juxta Wilmundecote 1313 Pat, Stretforth juxta Tamworth 1375 IpmR, Stretford 1656 Dugdale, 1750 K. This “had its name originally from the situation thereof, upon the great Roman way called Watlingstreet , where it thwarts the River towards Faseley” (Dugdale 824). v. stræt , ford and cf.
